My New Years resolution is to not listen to the radio until it plays Spyder and Muck… or until they get Tyler the Creator some play on Radio Disney (power to kittens).

For my second post in a row, I am posting up a beat tape (which is something I don’t usually do) but Clams Casino and Cory are on another level. Cory (Audio Perm :: Art School Girls) has a style that is 12 city blocks ahead of others his age and has been recognized by some of the top emcees from the area (see Prof – King Gampo).
Cory Grindberg put out an instrumental album called CRACK, and he wants everyone to hear it. This .ZIP you are about to download onto your computer is filled with 28 track of the CRACKin-est rap beats your ears have ever heard in their lives. This is that Rock, aka Hard, aka Cavvi, aka Iron, aka that Base. Download CRACK here, and if you enjoy it, please tell a friend to download it as well. We appreciate your continued support.
*BeSceneMpls does not condone smoking rock, only listening to it.

Theres nothing like finding some old undiscovered music from one of your favorite artists. Today frequent Blu collaborator Coss (Cashus King) posted a few songs on his facebook page from an 2003 EP by Johnson Barnes himself, when he was in a duo with another Los Angeles emcee named Jack Spade (who you may know now as Donel Smokes). I posted about half of the EP below.
when I first met Blu he was apart of a duo with the homie Jack Spade(blac) called “the bruise bros”…..along with me, Ammo, and Gunnie Sinoctra, we had a crew called “LA METRO”……Blu shouted out the crew on SOUL PROVIDER….this shit is from like 03, brings back hella memories….this was Blu pre BTH and legendary status….
“Let It Rain”
“Day By Day”
“Cal A”
“Ain’t Bout You”

I first heard about this cat Clams Casino through the A$AP Rocky mixtape and then was further introduced through my roommate, Jo3ma (design extraordinaire). As I looked further, I found that he was bigger than I knew, having done work with the likes of Lil’ B, A$AP, and many others. Recently, he released a self-titled instrumental tape that is iller than cholera. Check this video interview as well as this written review by Spin Mag to get a good idea of his style:
Generally, a Clams Casino track feels like the soundtrack for a New Age seminar that’s drifted wildly off course and run aground, but always in a more fascinating, ominously exhilarating place. Drums and synths yawn and stretch and sigh, always tilting toward the sublime, not in a pretentious way, but like a smart, modest, confused kid who’s understandably anxious about today’s state of effed-up affairs and wants more.. It’s probably the most appropriate music I’ve ever heard for just zoning the fuck out for four or five hours at your computer while idly Googling the ineffable.” -Spin

Remember a post I made a while back about a British vocalist named Jay James Picton? Well, he has officially hit the scene. Working with the skillful direction of Dave Wilson, Picton is releasing a short, 4-piece series titled “Heads Vs. Hearts“. The series is based around four original compositions: Battle Call, Long May They Roll, Heads Vs. Hearts Ft Booker T Jones (Booker T & The MGs) and additional track Another Man, which will be the finale of the series.
“When you’re in a one sided relationship, the emotions you feel are often clouded and mixed up with paranoia and a like attraction (heads vs. hearts), even though you know you’d be better off without that person, the constant battle with them and your own mind to make it work often sets off other emotions (Battle Call). The feelings once lost of preferring all that shit over nothing at all (Long May They Roll)”.
I had the pleasure of working on set with Dave for this series (actually, I just sat around and ate the crew’s food) and was quite impressed with the way it looked. Little did I know that it would turn out this well, making me very excited for the rest of the series. I will post up the videos as they are released.

I think I’ve found my new political affiliation thanks to emcee Denmark (who takes his name after the famous slave who bought his freedom and attempted to lead the largest rebellion in American history).
Denmark gets assistance from fellow Detroit representative and Crown Nation artist Quelle Chris, who just released the very dope “Shotguns And Sleek Rifles.”

Heres a track from a Minneapolis emcee called Knox that I had not been fortunate enough to hear of until a few weeks ago when my friend Dylan LP put me on to him.
On “Feet On Solid Ground” Knox paints a sobering picture of street life featuring guest vocals from TeXXXas. The song is featured on Knox’s mixtape “A Knox Story”
